About Minto, Yukon

Minto Explorations operates the Minto copper-gold mine, located about 240km northwest of Whitehorse in the Yukon Territory, Canada. This mine, under the management of Minto Explorations Ltd., a subsidiary of Capstone Mining Corp, began production in October 2007. It was initially operated as an open-pit mine but has since transitioned to 100% underground mining. The primary product of the mine is copper concentrate, with gold and silver as by-products.

The Minto mine boasts a rich history and a promising future, having run continuously from 2007 to 2018 before resuming operations in 2019 under new ownership and management after a brief maintenance closure. Minto Explorations Ltd. became publicly traded in December 2021 under the name Minto Metals Corp (MNTO on the TSXV Exchange).

The mine's geology features metamorphic assemblages and batholiths within the Carmacks copper belt, hosting intrusion-related copper and gold mineralisation. Its deposits lie within early Mesozoic plutonic rocks, with the area being marked by a variety of geological features including granodiorite, quartzofeldspathic gneiss, and biotite-rich gneiss.

In addition to its mining operations, Minto Explorations has joined Yukon University’s Northern Mine Remediation Consortium. This partnership signifies Minto Explorations' commitment to addressing northern mining challenges, focusing on passive water treatment technologies, mine waste management, mine revegetation, and community engagement, highlighting the company's dedication to environmental sustainability and community involvement
