Many airlines operate regular scheduled flights to popular destinations throughout the Bahamas. These airlines have scheduled departure and arrival times and operate to and from specific locations.
When you book travel with a scheduled airline, you only pay for the seat you occupy along with any additional charges for baggage, or seat selection.
Charter Flights
Airlines that offer Charter Flights have no set departure or arrival times and no specific destinations. You tell the airline when and where you want to fly to and if the destination is suitable for their aircraft to operate to and from, they book their aircraft to depart according to your schedule.
You will either pay a set rate per mile or per hour for use of the entire aircraft and crew. This can range from as little as $800 per hour to several thousand dollars per hour depending on the aircraft type. You will pay for the aircraft to fly you to your destination as well as the cost for it to return to its base after dropping you off. So at minimum, you can expect to pay $1600 - $2000 for a short flight.
Airlines with multiple aircraft in their fleet can usually match the aircraft type to your situation. For example a smaller aircraft if you have only one or two passengers or a larger aircraft if you have a group traveling.
